What happens after I purchase a template?
So you've chosen your fav Squarespace Template design and checked out, congrats! 🎉 Here's what comes next:
Instantly: Jump into the resources:
Check your email, as you'll receive instant access to the Template resources and tutorials.
You can dive into these tutorials to learn all about Squarespace and get started prepping your content and branding for your new site!
We recommend going through these tutorials even if you already know how to use Squarespace, as you're going to learn a lot about the process of building your website, and we'll give you lots of important tips about working with our Template.
Within 48 hours: Receive your design:
Then, within 48 hours of your purchase, your Template will be delivered directly into your Squarespace account as a new trial website. We build it on our end then transfer it over to you via your Squarespace account email address.
The new website comes in with a 6 month free trial which gives you lots of time to edit it before you want to make it live.
If you don't have a Squarespace account already, that's fine, when we send you the template it will prompt you to sign up!
Customize + launch your new site!
From there, you can follow our tutorials to customize and launch your new site! We cover every step you'll need to write your words, edit your graphics, update colors, layout and images, optimize for SEO, and of course... launch! 🥂

Most simply put, Squarespace is an easy to use, secure, and most importantly affordable all-in-one website building platform which has everything you need to create a GREAT website already built into it.
Want to add a shop? A blog? A portfolio? No problem, Squarespace has you covered with one click of a button.
Not sure how to SEO? Don’t know anything about coding? Squarespace’s simple drag and drop editor and mobile and SEO optimization have got you all covered too, and that’s why we can’t recommend it enough for small biz owners just like you!
Of course, Squarespace is not perfect, so if you’re after advanced ecommerce, Shopify is probably the better option. If you’re dreaming up a site with tons of specialized, custom features, maybe opt for WordPress instead. Wix and Showit are also contenders in the DIY website builder line-up, but we still always recommend Squarespace over both of them (and that’s not just because we’re totally biased 😂).
Never used Squarespace before? No worries! Which version template should I buy, Squarespace 7.0 or 7.1?
It’s important to note that some of our Templates are compatible with Squarespace 7.0, some are compatible with 7.1, and some are compatible with both! This may influence your decision depending on if you already have an established website on one of these Squarespace versions, or if you have a preference on which version you want to use for some other reason.
One of the main differences between 7.0 and 7.1 is that Squarespace 7.0 still uses the Classic Editor which has been around for a few years, while 7.1 has recently switched over to the new Fluid Engine editor (check out all the differences between 7.0 and 7.1 here), so now:

It is clearly stated on each Template sales page which version it is compatible with. If you're not sure which version you're using, check out this quick guide to see how to find out! If you don't have a site just yet, you can get started with either, depending on which Template is your fave, but we do generally recommend starting on 7.1 as it is the newer platform, it’s more flexible, and Squarespace is putting more work into it (see the newly released Fluid Engine editor).
That said, Squarespace 7.0 is still widely used and supported so if your dream Template is on 7.0, follow your dream! 7.0 is still a great option! If you’re not totally sure what to use, give us a shout and we’ll point you in the right direction.
What if I already have a site?
In your Squarespace dashboard you can have more than one website, so if you have an existing website now and you order one of our Templates, you will have two websites in your Squarespace dashboard (your existing site, and the new Template we transfer in as a new trial website). The two websites will be completely separate.
This does mean that you will need to transfer any existing website content you want into your new Template manually.
For pages, this is pretty easy as you just need to copy over some text, but if you have an existing site with lots of content (eg. blog posts, shop items, galleries, etc.) this can be a bit of work!

If you don’t want to transfer content between websites, and would prefer the template to be installed into your existing or live website, check out our installation package👇🏼
When you purchase an Installation Package from us, you'll be asked to fill out a form to give us a few more details as well as give us access to your site as an administrator. We'll then go into your site and load the template pages as you see them in the demo into the 'Not-Linked' pages section of your site. We'll leave everything else as is.
You’ll still need to add your own content into the new template pages as the install package doesn’t include any customizations.
An Install Package is perfect if you have an existing, established website on Squarespace already AND have lots of content on your website that you don’t want to transfer over to a new template, eg: blog posts, shop inventory, image galleries, strong existing SEO.
You don't need to purchase an Install if you don't have a Squarespace website or account yet, or if you don't have a lot of content on your existing site and are happy to start fresh. Simply purchasing one of our templates will deliver the template directly into your Squarespace account as a new website, ready to be customised! The difference is, the install package installs the template into an existing website, rather than just into your Squarespace account.
Please note that for us to add a template into your existing website, your website must be the same version as your chosen template (7.0 or 7.1). You can check which version your existing site is on with these instructions.
